Where did all the people go?

Look at all these old photographs. Go to nearly any major city today and there are sections with run down buildings, abandoned and would have been once booming with people living there. Did these families move to other newer homes in the city? Suburban sprawl? Are cities effectively dead zones?

not rlly, the city i’m in is thriving still, i love it here, but yea suburban sprawl took people away from communities

I always felt the car dependency was created by Big Tire having its way to destroying trolley lines and other short line rail.
