Ooooooof
😢
This is a cool little town, with some neat history & somewhat related to the topic. They listed their entire downtown on the historic register & now the interstate goes over the edge of town instead of through it.
this is what should’ve happened everywhere :,) thank you for sharing i love this
Of course. It did have it's detriments, too. It never really got to thrive again because the highway traffic doesn't pass through anymore so they lost a lot of economic activity.
I live (relatively) near Wallace. It is indeed cool, but the it's also hella creepy. Most people who live there are the descendants of the prostitutes who used to service the miners in the area. There is some dark stuff in that town.
It is definitely creepy. I have some friends who have tried to "adopt" the town as best they can, bought businesses & whatnot... an attempt to salvage whatever life & reputation it may have left. Some of the stories are not things I would want in my neighborhood, that's for sure. But its such a beautiful area.
Cool, I'm glad to hear that! It's been a while since I've been there, but there are definitely a few cool businesses catering to skiiers headed up to White Pass.
serious question....
Where did all the people go?
Look at all these old photographs. Go to nearly any major city today and there are sections with run down buildings, abandoned and would have been once booming with people living there. Did these families move to other newer homes in the city? Suburban sprawl? Are cities effectively dead zones?
not rlly, the city i’m in is thriving still, i love it here, but yea suburban sprawl took people away from communities
