Oh man... While I can never be quite certain as to what is true when the fog of war lays so thick, I can believe the US would create a false narrative of barbarism to fuether its war efforts. It has done so even when its not needed.
At this point, unless I was there or both "sides" confirm something, I find it hard to believe.

When you speak multiple languages, you are exposed to multiple narratives and can clear the fog a little better.
When you only speak English, guess whose narrative you are forced to be programmed by...
The world is much bigger than the Anglo-Sphere...
Speaking English doesn't exclude anyone from hearing multiple perspectives, that's ludicrous. The issue is getting correct translations.
