Nostr is positioned to be the point where different social network protocols can converge in one place.

- Twitter => Nitter RSS feed => RSSLay relay =>Twitter Emperor is followable on nostr: nostr:npub10vx8hdzg0jjxs6g65u8s4g7g5rlvz4z7l7nypyhq9p5rfjyvcwlq8wgpgl

- Mastodon => Mostr.Pub Relay/Bridge => Mastodon CEO is followable on nostr: nostr:npub1vaz36aqfwh7uar7wwqc8eg8f86kgsh8r78gle7ehsdnwl9c98qwqr07xck

not a fan of rss reposting of social.

the mastodon bridge... If I reply will it carry that back across to mastodon?

what's an example of the best/ideal bridge between networks

why not just build client's that can handle multiple accounts into one feed, like my rss reader takes google alerts & searches and used to pull in twitter before the api shut down?

#[4] has mentioned that the Mastodon bridge works (more or less).

oh 🤯

I think we need something like this, and associated profile tags so it’s always clear what you interacting with.

@bob - Bob on nostr

=bob - a bridge of bob from somewhere else

/bob - a bob bot

(This could also give clients a way to offer common prompts associated with that bot)

bob - a rss feed pushed to nostr

(it’s kinda ok that rss has 5 symbols before it because the point is one isn’t gonna interact with this one)

wouldn’t they eventually give up the bridge and go native to the winning protocol?

Some may, others may not and the bridges can still serve as a way for nostr to allow users to stay connected to the holdouts.

There may not be one winning protocol.. Multiple can exists and bridges will exist as well.

possible, but seems unlikely to me

other protocols like smtp/http/btc basically aggregate to one protocol per purpose. bridges eventually capitulate?

I had the same feeling when opening global gridview in iris today. There is also reuters news bridge and the guardian bridge, like it or not.

Nostr is starting to grow out from "only a niche bitcoiner thing" feel.
