And some of the strongest constitutional carry in the world

So for an Australian this is the most foreign thing to me and my brain actually can’t compute it!

I'll say it this way. We had the Covenant shooter a year or two ago, and on occasion we have gang violence, which is irrespective of gun control or laws no matter where you are.

When I see someone open carrying, I know that person's intentions. Yes, it is virtue signaling. But I concealed carry too. And when I see someone else carrying, I know they and I have the same mindset. A criminal can kill you, your loved one, or worse, a hundred times faster than an emt can save your life.

Maybe it's the culture. But I see a gun and I feel safe. I don't know what what kind of propaganda is pushed in the rest of the world. But I see a gun and I am reminded that I live in one of the best places on the planet and I thank God for it.

Meanwhile, the stats on "mass shootings" are lies using statistics. I could explain but rant over. It's not as violent as I would bet the rest of the world is lead to believe.

And by the way, the Covenant shooter literally wrote down that he picked that school because there weren't police, armed men, guarding it.

Yeah it really is a huge difference culturally between Aus and the US…for you guys it represents freedom. I do respect you have the right to your own self defense rather than relying on a slow system.

But then it is really messed up that you need armed guards at schools. I went to school in the US for a few years and finding out the kids had guns at school in their lockers was way too much for me. I was so scared every day a kid would do something stupid. Obviously that’s not a gun problem and more a cultural problem.

I looked up the statistics like you mentioned and you are very right. You really have me thinking about it differently…as have others I’ve met on Nostr.

People are getting stabbed all the time here with machetes…I guess being shot could be less brutal 😬

No solutions only tradeoffs. Appreciate your nuanced take.
