The Internet for the entire country of Pakistan is being throttled to spur speech.
Nostr represents humanity’s best chance as preserving free speech at the protocol level.

Because the army who actually runs the country is deathly afraid of the former prime minister Imran Khan who is currently incarcerated.
Last February, after a stolen “election” when evidence of the fraud on the people was being exposed, the government (at the direction of the army) blocked it.
It still works with a vpn which is how Pakistani politicians post their official remarks to their constituents who can’t access the site.
It’s a dystopian world here. At times I feel like I’m in the past, but seeing where the world is heading, maybe this is the future everywhere.
