It can be beneficial, lots of good studies.

You can go out any time of day and get red/infrared light.

An incandescent bulb is the cheapest option. There are some very reputable brands aswell.

Humans are solar powered.

And I have only touched the surface.

Each wavelength of sunlight has a job to do.

Infrared, red, blue, UVA, UVB... they all trigger different systems.

Sunlight is a biological signal that helps to regulate:

→ Mitochondrial energy production.

→ Gene expression & circadian rhythm.

→ Appetite, fat-burning, and blood sugar.

→ Brain function, sleep, and mental clarity.

→ Immunity, wound healing, and inflammation.

→ Hormones like serotonin, cortisol, and melatonin.

Next time sometimes tells you to avoid or block the sun, you can tell them that's not a good idea.

Sunlight is a nutrient, we are solar powered.

____

? = Circumstantial evidence but likely in my eyes.

There is an overlap between some wavelengths e.g. Red & Infrared and visible light has not been extensively studied.

Hello 👋

I guide busy 35-60 year olds, ready for real lasting change, to effortless metabolic health in 12 weeks through the health fundamentals.

Cheers.

If you're in a warmer climate you're getting more infrared, which provides most of the heat aswell.

Closer to body temperature means reducing the energy cost of keeping the body war. So more cellular energy for repair, cognition, and performance.

Also your your mitochondrial haplotype (maternal lineage of your mitochondria) may influence this too. Maybe your haplotype evolved in warmer climates and your mitochondria run more efficiently in heat and light.

We’ve all heard of ultra-processed foods.

What about ultra-processed light?

Ultra-processed food drives obesity and chronic disease but ultra-processed light does the same.

→ Unprocessed light (sunlight) sets your circadian rhythm, supports mitochondrial health, improves mood, regulates hormones, and so much more.

→ Processed light (fire, candle, incandescent) is more aligned with human biology. Just like some processed foods it can be good for you.

→ Ultra-processed light (LEDs, screens, blue-rich bulbs at night) disrupts melatonin, sleep, metabolism, and hunger cues.

If you’ve cleaned up your food.

Now it’s time to clean up your light.

→ Get outside within 30 minutes of waking.

→ Work near an open window & take light breaks.

→ Avoid bright overhead LEDs after sunset.

→ Use circadian friendly low level lighting.

→ Wear blue blockers at night.

Natural light is a nutrient.

Ultra-processed light is a junk input.

If you want optimal health, eat real food and live under real light.

I’ve dedicated the last 4 years of my life studying the dynamics of social media & human connection all with health in mind.

Inner connection to God, connection to nature, and connection to others in real life is the ultimate way.

But, in this digital world, NOSTR is the best path forward that I have seen.

“People follow incentives not advice.”

~ James Clear

The incentive of current social media platforms is to increase shareholder value.

To do this they must increase revenue (or potential revenue).

Their revenue models are ads (and now AI).

To sell more ads and generate more data for AI, they need more of your attention.

So they designed the platforms to get you HOOKED.

They’d rather you scrolling than at the dinner table with your family.

They have trickled these incentives down the lane to the super users of the platforms: the creators.

Creators are algorithmically rewarded to also get you HOOKED.

Every good creator knows the first three seconds/line of the post is the most important.

It’s called THE HOOK, fishing for our attention.

Our attention is an unconscious thing.

The most successful hooks tend to be negative even though we don’t consciously desire negative things.

But negative media draws us in for some reason.

We see this through history books (mostly talk about wartime when most of actual history is peacetime), main stream news media, click bait articles, and now social media hooks & comments.

Because these hooks work the best at grabbing your attention, more negative media is fed your way creating a vicious cycle of negative consumption incentivizing more negative creation and the vicious cycle continues.

NOSTR changes these incentive structures and with it the incentives structures trickle down the lane to the creators.

Nostr is a protocol not a company so increasing shareholder value is not the incentive.

With this, your attention is not the primary incentive either.

Because anyone can build on top of the Nostr protocol, the platforms incentives shift too.

They become more competitive with each other.

They must focus on value creation versus revenue creation (often mistaken as the same thing) otherwise the users will move to the other platforms (effortlessly) as the content & followers lives on everywhere through the Nostr protocol.

This value creation incentive is trickled down the lane to the super users: the creators.

We see this through Zaps (the act of sending Sats which are micro payments of Bitcoin).

Creators want the Zaps (money) not just your attention.

So users don’t reward creators with their attention but rather with the Zaps (money) they send them.

Users are much more CONSCIOUS of who they send their Sats (money) too because it’s public and actual money.

On the other hand, they are way less conscious of where their attention goes because it is private and can be tricked unconsciously into negative things via HOOKS.

Even if users attention goes to negative things, users are way less likely to send their money to those negative things.

So rather than creators just trying to HOOK you in for the algorithmic rewards, they must give you VALUE which is returned back to them via ZAPS (micro payments of Bitcoin) determined directly by the user receiving the value.

Nostr apps like Primal can then reward algorithmic discovery based off of zaps rather than pure attention.

So rather than platforms like Primal algorithmically pushing content that was most successful at HOOKING people, it pushes content that was consciously deemed most valuable.

This creates a more CONSCIOUS cycle of consuming leading to more POSITIVE consumption further incentivizing more VALUE based positive creation.

Elon understands more than most that X is also becoming the collective consciousness of AI as it is trained on its data.

Considering X’s and other social media model incentivizing negative media, and the understanding that this negative media in away becomes the collective consciousness of Earth and AI, is this not something we should be concerned with?

I’d much rather the collective consciousness of Earth and AI be filled with more positive media.

NOSTR, although not perfect, at least incentivizes more of that.

If Elon is truly concerned with AI safety, I hope he considers moving X’s entire infrastructure to Nostr when Nostr is ready for it.

P.S.

Collective Consciousness is truly found within not on X if you look for it so inner connection to God, nature, and others in real life is still the ultimate way.

This note resonated with me a lot.

As a creator of content mainly on LinkedIn sadly the first three lines dictates how peoples scroll will be stopped.

A few examples I see which get millions of views.

You've been told X, but the real threat is Y

90% of people ignore X & it’s silently causing Y

You've been lied to about X, Most people think they're Y

I'm probably guilty of this myself and in future I will speak on here like I would normally not for an algorithm.

I have an app called native EMF for android, see photo below.

I still wear blue blockers on top as I don't think it blocks 100% of the blue light.

Politics in a note.

Red didn't fix it, vote blue.

4 years later...

Blue didn't fix it, vote red.

4 years later...

Nothing will change as long as the money printer is around.

Bitcoin Fixes This.

Second: Saw some carnivore maxis posting earlier about how fruit is bad for you, been bred to be extra sweet, etc.

I eat a lot of meat, and I find the absolutism and clarity of thought of carnivore appealing. But I don’t think it’s ultimately correct.

There’s an old Buddhist parable about two monks, sworn to celibacy, walking in a forest. They come across a pretty, young woman who needs help crossing a pond. One of the monks picks her up, carries her across, drops her off at the other side.

The monks walk for a while, the second one (who did not pick up the girl) seething. Finally, he can’t take it anymore, blurts out: “What the hell were you thinking back there at the pond?” First one replies: “Oh, the girl? I put her down at the other side of the pond, sounds like you’ve been carrying her the entire time.”

The issue isn’t whether he carried the girl, but the attachment to it. Do you really think eating an apple every day or some berries is going to severely harm a healthy adult? I smoke cigars — I suppose those are bad too. The point isn’t to avoid everything with sugar that could spike your blood glucose or require an insulin response. The point is not to be an addict, using cheap, available sugars as little dopamine rewards.

Enjoy eating some carbs if you like, or be carnivore if you like too. So long as you feel healthy and have energy, I suspect both are fine. But drugging yourself with fruit (or patting yourself on the back over your purity for avoiding it) is IMO the error.

Most see a simple light bulb.

I see one of the greatest threats to human health.

This threat:

→ Disrupts sleep

→ Increases cravings

→ Slows fat metabolism

→ Suppresses melatonin

→ Leads to metabolic dysfunction

And nobody knows about it.

Wrong light at the wrong time sends the wrong signals to your body.

Fixing it is straightforward.

Breaking it all down tomorrow's read.
