Is there a way to “mirror” a file on another drive (maybe an external drive)? Like a RAID but not: just a way to save something in two different places at the same time, every time. nostr:note1wfpw2mxx2ycayzjnam2ts39qtsh647xslem9d695v03669ueyvqswdz7e0

Like RAID but not. But you just described RAID

Raids require the exact same size drives. I don’t need a mirrored drive just a simple mirrored folder.

rsnapshot and similar?

Syncthing is a good way to sync files.

I use it to sync Obsidian between devices.

GlusterFS, CephFS, RAID-1 over iSCSI, Lsyncd, custom fuse layer with rsync, NFS or sshfs

There is, it's called CMD, with lines of code you could create a command prompt to save a file in any directory/external drive recognized by your machine's drives and yes you can program it to save files in two different directories, at the same time, with a sequenced file name. The trigger for this command could be a file action, an input or a result. CMD also works on Android but you would have to jailbreak to have full functionality and interoperability with a desktop device. CMD has various packages in case you need specific code modules.

I use nextcloud on start9 for this
