I'm recovering from a VERY severe sunburn.

I took the advice of many nostriches, some sensible stuff from the internet, and my own body responding to things to develop something that helped quite a bit:

In a small container, mix equal parts of the following:

Aloe with lidocaine

Hydrocortisone cream

Tallow

It is best if the ingredients are mixed at room temperature, but, I found that if you use good tallow, it will mix well enough. Chill on the fridge for maximum effect, but you can obviously apply it right away.

The aloe and tallow are obviously for moisturizing the burnt skin. The lidocaine numbs the worst of the pain. The hydrocortisone reduces the inflammation and further helps reduce the pain.

If you have the time, try to find components with as few ingredients as possible. I was not entirely satisfied with the components in my mix, but, I did the best that I could given that I really wanted relief so I could sleep (after 3 days on not functioning well due to painfully interrupted sleep).

This concoction works brilliantly, though, you can't apply it too often if you follow the package recommended intervals of ~4 hours. You can, of course, apply tallow and aloe as often as you like. I also find vinegar and witch hazel to be helpful and cooling and for minor sun burns possibly all that's needed.

Yep. White vinegar helps immediately, but I hate the smell. This option sounds cool.

I love vinegar. I don't mind Smelling like a salad. Lol!

Hope you recover swiftly dude.

It doesn't hurt to wear a shirt anymore and I'm pealing like a banana... So I'm good. Lol

Also reassuringly high vitamin D levels ๐Ÿ˜‚

Bwahahahaha! Might have been too much all at once... LOL

Try hydrating before you go to sleep. Ive found even when i burn badly if i drink a bunch of water leading up to when i go to sleep, it wildly decreases the pain and redness.

Since ive started hydrating like that, it seems like i havent had serious discomfort the following day.

The few times ive forgotten to really drink as much as i should, the burn seems to hang around.

I guess i should say i spend most of my days getting at least an hour minimum of sun feeding animals and tending plants.

However i definitely burn when im out fishing all day (which is as frequent as i can manage).

As long as i hydrate enough it just doesnt seem to matter.

I've been increasing my sun exposure, especially towards sunset.

Oh, I'm very well hydrated most of the time.

Due to the way I work, I don't get enough sun most days. (I'm a welder, so, I spend most of my time covered up.)

I got burned exclusively where I wear a shirt, that hasn't seen any sun this year. I should have eased into it. ๐Ÿ˜…

Former boss' ginger roomate was told iced milk. Put ice in milk and soak the area, my sister said she made a bowl and dipped a wash cloth in it and had great results. I'm fortunate that I don't burn like that anymore, wait for the itching ๐Ÿ˜†.

I've also heard about using yogurt.

Seems like it would be easier, I choose strawberry ๐Ÿ˜‰.

Lol! Plain for me, please.

When i was a kid we used yogurt. Not strained yogurt, normal yogurt (it has more liquid obviously). It was ok. Nivea was also good after the sun exposure. In general i use something from the pharmacy store now, because they are better. And of course i avoid sunburns now. They are bad for the skin and for health in general.

The worst sunburn i had, caused a burn of second degree...

Please avoid sunburns. They are no good.

That's true. I will be me careful in the future.

Yeah. Exposure to the sun is good. But not for long.

What you really need is the ultra violet equivalent of hair of the dog - get back out there, fully exposed for at least 14 hours a day for the next 14 days...you'll be right as rain ๐Ÿ’ฏ

Your nym is very correct.

We aim to destroy ๐Ÿซก
