How the f*ck do I always manage to mess up my bootloader on Linux and end up in the grub bash-like interface?

Must be Distro related???

Yeah, and I have some custom stuff for other reasons, multiple partitions, multiple systems... And then automated updates mess it up.

For anyone following this critical story, here are the commands to recover:

set boot=(hd0,gp5)

set prefix=(hd0,gp5)/boot/grub

insmod normal

normal

and then when you boot

sudo update-grub
