I thought algorithms be dammed and everyone was supposed to get equal windshield time with Nostr? I thought that was a major point when I was researching all this.

It can be if you make a client for it, or use one that lets you customize your feed. Several current clients want to impose their own algo, and they can, that should be expected. Good luck to them, and may the best app win! The critical difference with Nostr is that you can switch clients and use it the way you want.
