Thing is... these people are empty. Consumption and techy gadgets provides the temporary illusion they are "whole".
Until they get bored of said gadget and need something else.
They even justify their complete and utter lack of understanding anything about life by claiming; "I got nothing to hide". Lol. No shit, you're empty. Hence why you choose to sell yourself out and any freedom and sovereignty you have for the illusion of security.
