I think I know what you mean. Sats are great for rewarding creators for content, but when creators start DEMANDING sats, that's just a bad look. A few weeks ago I was engaging with a creator on a nostr live. I think they were live in multiple places at once, but I was almost the only person in the nostr live chat. I started actively engaging with them, asking questions, etc. After a few questions they were like "You're asking too many questions, you better be zapping me. Did you zap me already?" That's just bad look. Don't wanna engage with someone, just don't talk to them. Don't wanna answer questions, don't answer them. Yes, people's time is valuable, but asking payment for it isn't usually done in a public live but a private paid appointment. I get the value for value but showing your greed is low-key lame. Especially for literal pennies or fractions of pennies.

If I had a sat for every time I awkwardly joined a convo… well, here’s my chance.

Yep that's probably my biggest peev with Nostr. Attention and engagement is priceless; trying to make the interaction transactional only undermines it and makes them seem incredibly shallow.

Luckily zapping is not mandatory, (unless you want to participate in polls XD) so I don't consider it a real problem, just a distraction from what really matters and something that's fun to judge people for.

you could have a client that doesn't have zaps, or doesn't show zaps, or has the option to hide them / keep them in the background.

we are the beta testers of a protocol, none of this is real lol

Yep, I have some ideas. nostr:nevent1qqsg0ftnj32man8rtt5mugjayg0kjmygxx070wfm9t2dch7dqrgk4nspz4mhxue69uhkummnw3ezummcw3ezuer9wchsyg9g0dqz4sypezzfh82m6n3e7g587ftsn5lr7708sjh3azeclmaa7ypsgqqqqqqsfarege

It will probably be a while until I actually consider doing any of this though. I have other higher priority things I'm planning to do.

Unless something goes wrong of course. I was planning to wait a good long while to switch to Linux, but then Windows started crashing. It's hard to describe how I felt installing Linux that weekend. It felt like I just got tripped by a death row inmate and so I rescheduled their execution for this Tuesday.

Luckily, most ppl on here aren't like that, or have enough social awarenes not to show it.

True. I've only once or twice had someone tell me to configure a wallet so that they could zap me. No thank you.
