When streaming was going mainstream, the music industry (as others have) came to talk about two primary modalities: ālean backā and ālean forwardā. An example of the former is Spotify; let the recommendation engine do the work. Apple Music, for the first many years, was on the other end, as a ālean forwardā; you needed to do the work to build your library.
TikTok is the ultimate expression of the ālean backā model. Just keep scrolling. Iād argue that this is the polar opposite of nostr today.
Not to say we canāt or shouldnāt build lean back experiences, but weāre a long way from them.
