#asknostr. My family spends money badly and im not sure how to fix this.

Family members ask me to fix things in the house. The item that needs to be replaced is $500. They only want to spend $300. This wont purchase the necessary item but they dont want to spend more.

However over the last year they bought a $350 TV that didn’t need to be replaced. A $400 guitar. $2000 in holiday decorations. Multiple thousands on in home decorations. And $200 on a f*ckin wheel of cheese because they liked the way it tastes.

How do I get across to them not to cut corners on home repairs because it will cost more in the long run

My family is like this it drives me crazy. My mentality is make ‘em save the $200 they’re short and fix it right.

Here is the crazy part. They aren’t short. I even offered to pay the $200 but they cant justify spending that much and they have it.

One more. Years ago another member got an inheritance. We suggested paying off the house. The interest saved and property value increase would have been 6 times the inheritance. But… ‘They couldn’t bring themselves to hand that much money over to the bank at once’.

Needless to say by making these bad decisions my family has always remained poor.
