What’s the most surprising concert you’ve ever been to? i.e. You went expecting it to be either good or bad and it was complete opposite.

I’ll go first. Saw Chainsmokers live at a festival and didn’t want to, was just following my girlfriend, and I hate Chainsmokers. Ended up being one of the best live performances I’ve ever seen.

Modest mouse a few months ago when it not only turned out to be a Lonesome Crowded West show, but a really good one

The tickets were a gift so I didn’t know/neither did she 😂

That’s like their best album. Also one if the last shows before their drummer died 😢

Dang. Last time I saw Modest Mouse I was so Fucking excited. And it was just not good. Still love Modest Mouse

See i was not excited bc i haven’t liked their “new” stuff since many albums ago. I was telling her on the way, “thanjs for getting us these tickets, but maybe let’s just be ready to leave early. They probably won’t play any of their good ones.” She was on board with that, but then they played Lonesome Crowded West in its entirety 🥹

Man that’s awesome! Yeah it was mostly the new stuff when I saw them. Then ended with Float On and like I love that song but theres so many other good ones I was dying to see. I’m glad you had a good experience tho! Makes me happy

I hate the chainsmokers. Im a techno and house snob when it comes to electronic music. But I agree, chainsmokers can throw down an entertaining set (usually very high energy).

For me, it is the weeknd. Not a fan of his music by any means, but he blew me away live. His vocal range is nuts.

I’ve heard that The Weeknd had one of the craziest live performances as far as pure raw talent goes. He’s very talented.

Craaazy talented. I just assumed he was gonna be lip syncing, but hell no he went all out on the mic.

Adele. The wife dragged me, and I ended up bawling like a babe with every little song.

Plus, that girl is funny, man. Cracking jokes between songs. Very self-deprecating, endearing sense of humor too. Or at least she used to be - this must have been 4-5 years ago.

She has such a beautiful voice.

I mean, yes, you can tell. But I was quite indifferent.

Now, hearing her live... that's a completely different story. Blew my mind.

And the contrast was Red Hot Chilli Peppers, back in '96 or so.

Holy mother of the goat, is Kiedis tone-deaf or what. And hasn't anybody ever told him?

Really??? Not what I’d expect either..

And my best big concert ever, a couple of years earlier, '93 I think, Prince and the NPG.

Absolutely unholy. Insane.

I saw Arcade Fire on their first tour, at the Commodore Ballroom in Vancouver. I had heard that they were amazing live, but I had no idea.

This may get laughed at, but 21 pilots. Went in thinking this is going to be terrible. To this day my friends and I talk about how awesome and fun it was.

Ok so … What era? TOP right after Vessel was INSANE. But I have a weird opinion that their fan base ruined them after Blurryface.

It was after Blurryface 😂

I still loved them after Blurryface. It just seems very different. One of my favorite live performances of theirs I’ve seen (not IRL, recording) was Goner.

Yeah I honestly had no idea really who they were besides Blurryface. Went in and I had the best night of my life. Brought the drummer over the crowd it was epic. But I became a believe after that haha

This was back in 2007 or 2008 ... Depeche Mode. Every song was a hit, done perfectly, better than the albums. I wasn't into 80s music really, but I left beyond impressed.
