Dude, extracting anything from a transaction requires specialized tools. Whether or not the raw bytes are continuous is irrelevant.
Besides, it's easy to construct continuous files that double as valid Bitcoin transactions.
You Knots people loudly and continuously bringing up this issue on the other than has a high risk of inviting government action. That alone makes you all a threat to Bitcoin.
What special tools would you need to see OP_Return data? Because when I ask an LLM it just says Core's RPC or a block explorer. Convert the hex to binary with one command and thats it. When I ask it what tools I need to see witness data it says Core RPC, a parsing library, and knowledge of how witness data is structured. It also says its not shown by most explorers. One seems a bit easier for a journalist... Are you lying or is this wrong?
I agree with nostr:npub1ej493cmun8y9h3082spg5uvt63jgtewneve526g7e2urca2afrxqm3ndrm here, but Luke is not the only developer working on knots. There should never be just one anyways. We need peer review for these reasons but also community support to make a project effective.
Still boggles my mind why Core is increasing the default... But this messy method to communicate changes is the new way for now, until we figure out a better way, that we will help organize to take care of our world community without centralized politics or paid spokesmen: Through one perspn bringing community awareness to an issue, raising the community to fight to be heard, one in influence/power realizing thry can make a healthy difference, them making the next step to influence others in such circles, and then as a whole community making that honorable change to fix it.
This is more than just bitcoin, it's about how we work together for better changes without the politics and ego that have hurt us for so long. So let's show them we can work together better than the leaders of this world by doing better than them.
Maybe Core, or someone in Core is struggling right now to save face or bring doubt that this change makes sense for the long run. Maybe that's the next leader in the making and just needs courage enough to speak up for the community. When was the last time we had a leader on this planet that had that influence, regarded their role as a privilege and understood their role was to help bring the community together, not apart.
Look how much push back this thing has got, and how 18% of nodes has loudly voted against. Simply don’t increase the op_return from 80 bytes to 100’000 bytes and don’t take away user configuration options.
Simply set it to 160 bytes and leave the option to configure it. This is what is all about, is it too much to ask? Clearly there is not enough support for this change. Please man try have a talk with core devs
