That doesn't work for brand new day one users though. They have zero WoT.

So WoT isn’t a solution… WoT relays will only help longtime users…

So how do we fix the spam problem…? Dumb spam (like bots that recreate posts and re-order words) is one problem. It’s a nuisance, but I mute indefinite and move on.

But having to see gay porn and gore porn will drive people away faster than anything. When this spam hits, we need a fast fix. And one that doesn’t require people to learn Relay 101 or whatever else to block it out. It shouldn’t be on the user to block this crap—which is a downside of being decentralized.

Where is the happy medium of benefitting from decentralization and not having to see some guy getting his dick drilled?

a new user still benefits from reading from wot relays (presumably less spam on relay), however theyd be unable to write to them (theyre new so theyre not *in* anyone's wot). reading and writing like this is handled by different clients, but the setup isnt obvious or straightforward.
