PSA: You can be decentralized and also be on any platform you'd like. For example, you could upload to Spotify AND host your own RSS feed. If money is a concern, you can host an RSS feed on GitHub for free!

I know most people on here aren't looking for this advice, and that's cool with me. If just one person is, then the post is worth it. I also know most people here won't take my opinions on independent music seriously, and that's cool too. But week after week, I cohost a decentralized music show with the wonderful nostr:npub19ha7tju4teqp3dmwv4p28wrcy9zd6h6hxkg5mwvjrlfycweazpkse2q0fa. This is a labor of love. The love comes from freedom of doing things that matches our vision of sovereignty. I like advice! Even when I don't have bandwidth to put it into action immediately it's very helpful to have in the back of my mind. I did officially leave Spotify and I'm trying to get more of an understanding about decentralized music so I appreciate your efforts! 🥰

I don't make my own music, it's not my outlet of choice. I just appreciate and try to support good independent artists where I can. My friend told me about Coda music, but that confused me because it seems linked to YouTube. I'm slowly getting better with the decentralized music but not there quite yet 😅

You may be interested in https://v4vmusic.com It's a music app that's solely dedicated to music released on RSS feeds by mostly independent artists. It has nearly 27,000 songs in it. Tons of good stuff (tons of garbage also 🙂)

You can even support the artist's directly with bitcoin (At the moment only the alby and coinos wallets work 🙁)

The site is a work in progress so if you have any issues with it, feedback is always welcome (and needed)
