More clients should broadcast the note you’re replying-to to your write relays. Helps with decentralization and note propagation. This is similar to the concept of making sure to quote the thing you’re replying to in emails.

You could go further and broadcast the entire reply chain if you wanted even better propagation.

good idea

What would happen if every website became client-based? DNS

Great idea.

I’ve started a second relay to help me find groups of people and relays they’re interacting with. wss://nostr.mn (nostr mining) planning to do some analytics dashboards. 🤔

I am always afraid of privacy issues when automatically broadcasting stuff. What if the source was supposed to be kept in a private relay, like a company workspace?

That’s why encrypted group chat is important. Private relay is a transitional, temporary solution for privacy.

Yes this was my concern originally as well which is why i never had it for the longest time. My idea was to mark certain relays as private and not broadcast in those situations, and have it so only the post goes to that specific private relay. This is not a common scenario atm though, i feel like note prop is more important at this time.

I think resilience is more important than privacy for unencrypted notes.

In the future, perhaps we'll figure out a way to handle private groups. I suspect it's a hard one to crack.

Wrapping fixes this

Yes please. That would be most helpful.

I like this idea a lot

good idea

Is this a part of your grand plan to deprecate delete :)

bwahaha

Can relays propagate and talk to each other?

Can relays be set up with privet setting and prevented from interacting with others?

yes and yes. relays can do anything they want.

I feel like I need to dig in relays theme ..I don’t fully understand how it works and how to use it properly

Do they do this now?

Which relays broadcast to other relays rn?

Isn‘t there a field called something like „canonical relay“ already in NIP-01 for referenced notes?

Found it:

["e", <32-bytes hex of the id of another event>, ],

["p", <32-bytes hex of a pubkey>, ]

So this means, you should ask clients to track this and not servers, doesn‘t it?

It will turn nostr into very well connected and reliable network.

I'm confused why this is the clients job

why not

Why not relay
