Nostr would honestly be better. Voting with pub/priv keys seems like a great way to secure elections transparently. No blockchain needed.

Yes. But this would require governments to do tech. And privacy. And security. 😬

It also requires them to actual accept the results without tampering with them.

Yeah, I can see that working. Also relatively no costs.

So you go to the state. Spin up a new pub/priv key pair, and you prove you own it. To register.

How do you keep the government and people from knowing whom did you vote for though?

I don't like anonymous voting so...

But anonymous voting is very important.

It’s not about what you like and don’t like. Voting should be non-kyc. So that if you vote for the loser, the winner doesn’t discriminate against you for whatever reason.

There is a difference between registered voters vs KYCed voting.

I think voting should be KYC'd. You can say whatever you'd like behind a nym, but once you start making decisions that everyone else is beholden to, you should have to stand by it. That we allow people to decide how we are governed without requiring any skin in the game on their part is insane.

A simple one or complex nation state voting system? Use formstr.app or nostr polls with 1 sat vote for a simple one😉

I keep getting stuck at the idea of how do you keep your vote secret?

Meaning not letting everyone know who you voted for.

yes, it's been done in the past. problem is that our governments do not want tamperproof elections with real time polling data and results because "not everyone has a smart phone". But we can certainly carry digital ID, vaccination certificates and carbon credits on the phones not everyone owns...

Very suspicious if they fight it. 😅

Makes you think that elections are rigged but, they wouldn't do that. RIGHT?

I don't have a better proposal and I wouldn't know how to make it work or how to choose, but I don't think everyone should have the right to vote. Some people are just stupid or don't know enough about the topic.
