I don’t know much about the situation, but the labels don’t matter to me, it’s the same story everywhere. Example: there is a huge number of left ideologues in the US “conservative” party too.

If they are declaring marshal law to “preserve democracy” then it sounds to me a lot like the same narrative playbook that’s been used all across the west for what sounds like the same purpose.

South Korea has not fallen! That's a ridiculous thing to say.

The President has issues with the opposition party who control the National Assembly so he tried to take control by force. But he failed.

Within 4h of the President address the National Assembly voted 190-0 to rescind martial law. Later that night the President announced that the martial law has been lifted.

The leader of the President's own political party criticized the move, calling his declaration “wrong.”

Several senior aides to the President, including his chief of staff, collectively tendered their resignation.

Members of South Korea’s opposition, which controls the National Assembly, have submitted a motion to impeach the President.

The secretary general of the National Assembly condemn the illegal, unconstitutional actions of the military and said he would hold the military accountable for its role in imposing martial law.

South Korea’s top court voted unanimously to dismiss the country’s impeached president, Yoon Suk Yeol, on Friday. The decision clears the way for the election of a new leader after months of political turmoil that has tested its democratic guardrails.

In a ruling that millions of South Koreans watched on live television, the Constitutional Court’s eight justices endorsed the National Assembly’s decision to impeach Mr. Yoon for his failed attempt to place his country under martial law in December. With that ruling, Mr. Yoon, who had been suspended from office since the parliamentary vote on Dec. 14, was formally unseated.

This is what happens in a democracy where elected representatives and courts uphold the Constitution and the rule of law. Unlike the US where the President disregard the Constitution, the rule of law, and court orders.
