I wouldn't have thought it would provide many nutrients once broken down!

I add shredded paper to my compost, and i would say it would count as brown. Then again, i just throw stuff in without doing any scientific measurements.

Definitely! Put that in brown category, worms love paper and cardboard.

Its basically just carbon, so definitely

Yes, but be careful not to add so much at once that it creates an impenetrable layer, just like grass clippings. Paper is cellulose and lignin, which are fungal foods.

Yes, and it's got excellent surface area for quick processing. It counts as brown.

Source: me. I do this.

Shredded paper counts as a brown, high carbon. If the paper isnt colored, glossy, or have ink on it, throw it in the compost.

Mine is all junk mail 🙄 shredded up

You should be good with shredded junk mail. A lot of ink these days are made with soy. The less, the better kinda thing.
