The grants have been huge for getting nostr going but it can’t ever be the long term path to sustainability.
I think the easiest path is either a recurring in app payments for SaaS services. The SaaS model doesn’t need massive scale to sustain the providers.
People think that pro or paid features need to be really valuable to cause people to pay but that’s a mistake. It’s more like giving people something special so they’re appreciated or relieves an annoyance. Slack has tons of features for paid users but it’s really just being able to see and search your past conversations that causes people to pay. Plus things businesses need that individuals don’t, like more control and compliance.
We don’t need huge sums of money to support our current ecosystem, but we do need models that work with thousands of users per app instead of millions.

Maybe I should apply to Opensats as multi project monetization product contributor, and prompt devs to prioritize a subscription, status, perk paid feature etc
I’ll do this irregardless. Thanks for the inspiration.
