I buried my son's dead pet bird about two weeks ago in the flower bed beside our deck and house. It was probably about 18 inches deep. I assumed it was safe there due to proximity to the house. I apparently didn't bury it deep enough. Something dug it up and ate it. My son is very devastated. Again.

Fuck.

Damn 😔

I feel very bad for you son, but I also just laughed out loud too, couldn't help it 🤣

Bad parenting

I feel terrible 😩

You gotta tell him you buried it in the yard but then still get rid of it.

I had a pet fish that died when I was a kid, my mom made me take the bag and throw it in the trash outside, I was very sad.

This happened to me three times felt very bad each time eventually decided birds should be free

I’m so sorry, D 😭🫂

I discovered that the hard way years ago. Not good.

He will be ok

I still remember a neighbor returning our Blue Crowned Conure to us in a plastic bag after it flew the coop. Never easy. 🫂

I read buried as burned…. The whole time I’m thinking….Derek done cremated the bird. Now that’s a dedicated dad. 😂😂😂

Ee’s not dead, ee’s just restin’ s’all.

Beau”iful plumage!

Oh no 😥 poor little dude. 🫂

😔

Dang. That sucks. Crazy they found it that deep.

That sucks I’m sorry

I didn’t know you lived near Elizabeth Warren….I’ve heard silver crosses can help to keep her out of your yard.

Parenting is a bag of things you never thought you'd have to confront 🫂

Sorry that happened to you and your son.

Oof that reminded me of the family dog. My husband and I tried burying her in the backyard 4 or 5 feet. Put lye over her and everything to mask the smell. I guess it wasn't deep enough because a week later a coyote was digging her up 😵 the smell and imagery

.. Awful... usually my dad does the burials. I learned my lesson. Never bury anything unless you know what you are doing. I was traumatized.

That sucks. I hope you turn it into a learning experience that benefits him over time.🙏

Circle of life is a tough lesson to learn but having been exposed to natural pain and disappointment will help him deal with tough times in the future. He’s lucky to learn alongside a dad who cares about him.

Couldn’t you just tell him a bird has to fly and so it flew up to heaven?

Poor kid! Poor Dad! Hope he feels better about it this morning.

Didn’t some just get a cat…

The kitten is inside and mostly locked in my bathroom and bedroom for now. It was probably a raccoon or opossum or skunk perhaps that dug it up. I guess it could have been a neighbor's dog but I don't think so.

Fair enough, hope you're boy's ok.

Poor you and your son, I'm sorry to hear this 🥲

This was a parenting failure. Ugh. Thanks.
