I've always supported the war, but that doesn't mean I approve of the actions of the politicians that led to it.
This war is the result of their failure.

The point is to never support the war. Even if an enemy attacks you, you should not fight. Unless of course you can crush that enemy in a blink of an eye without any sacrifice. That's fine, but that is not fighting not war. If the enemy is trying to fight you and you do not have the power yet to crush it, you have to find other ways that avoid any sacrifice and risks on your side.
