Went to a parenting conference last week, lots of great stuff, but my biggest take away is that instead of trying to prevent problems, I should teach my kids how to fix problems. They are now allowed to dig holes in the yard, as long as they fill them in and re-plant the grass afterwards.

It's good to learn problem solving skills but the scope of trying to fix broken things is limited. It's better to care about what you have and keeping it safe.

It's better to have a bird in your hands than 100 of them flying.

I love that. The best parenting advice I ever got was from a drunk old man who told me "You're trying to raise kids, you want to functional adults." That really hit home.

Wow, I left our words there somehow. I hope you can interpret that. πŸ˜‚

I give up.

Its from a drunk guy, and you left out words. It actually makes it more profound.

I suppose πŸ˜‚

will hitting holes in the wall be allowed?
