Exploring Nos.social. Very cool. Clicked on the link to the code. I have no idea how to read code but it looks lovely. Slightly worried I might click on something and erase everything. I havenโ€™t been on GitHub much.

don't worry about breaking anything on GitHub. it is read-only unless you're signed in and have permissions on a repo, and it is a few step process even then.

You have to be careful. You might end up seeing a typo and get pulled into the fray of opening a pull request to fix it.

Next thing you know you're developing nostr apps.

It's a truly terrifying rabbit hole. One must be careful.

๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿ˜‚

Waaaaait a minute. You can fix typos on there?!๐Ÿ‘€

๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿซ‚ Nahh Iโ€™ll leave that to you guys, Iโ€™ll just snoop around the code. I like the purple looking code

I canโ€™t believe it took me this long to realise what the name โ€˜GitHubโ€™ meant in slang ๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿคฆ๐Ÿฝโ€โ™€๏ธ

Wait what does GitHub mean in slang? ๐Ÿ‘€

In British slang

GitHub = fools hub or idiots hub ๐Ÿ˜‚

Itโ€™s only funny cos itโ€™s so far from the truth ๐Ÿซ‚๐Ÿ™๐Ÿฝ whoever named it had a good sense of humour, or had no idea

Good sense of humor ๐Ÿ˜‚

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Git#Naming

Torvalds sarcastically quipped about the name _git_ (which means "unpleasant person" in British English slang): "I'm an egotistical bastard, and I name all my projects after myself. First 'Linux', now 'git'."[31][32] The man page describes Git as "the stupid content tracker".[33]

The read-me file of the source code elaborates further:[34]

> "git" can mean anything, depending on your mood.

>

> * Random three-letter combination that is pronounceable, and not actually used by any common UNIX command. The fact that it is a mispronunciation of "get" may or may not be relevant.

> * Stupid. Contemptible and despicable. Simple. Take your pick from the dictionary of slang.

> * "Global information tracker": you're in a good mood, and it actually works for you. Angels sing, and a light suddenly fills the room.

> * "Goddamn idiotic truckload of sh\*t": when it breaks.

The source code for Git refers to the program as "the information manager from hell".

Amazing ๐Ÿ˜‚

I like him, heโ€™s funny

I mean.....there are a lot of gits on there.....Could be rebranded to House of Fools as well.

Even the creator of git was a self proclaimed git. Linus himself ๐Ÿ˜‚

He seems cool ๐Ÿ˜‚

He created Linux? ๐Ÿคฏ

Yeah he was the original, "You know what, I'm gonna make my own UNIX! With Blackjack! And Hookers!"

You won't have permissions to do anything bad there ๐Ÿ˜‚

Oh good, cos Iโ€™ve been clicking on everything ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿซ‚

๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚ unless you actually propose some changes and they get approved it is OK ๐Ÿซ‚

Oh โ˜บ๏ธ intriguing. How does one propose pink code? I think itโ€™s very important

What is pink code? If how you see it you can just change color settings in your environment ๐Ÿ˜…

Iโ€™m joking, Petr ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿซ‚
