and happy friday ^^
Yea, it's a sale price. Still up well over 30% from a year ago. Try not to let the day to day swings give you motion sickness. This year may be a rocky one especially with some of the macroeconomic backdrop, as the administration is working to bring down interest rates (and slash government spending), which means there'll likely be a bit of a dollar liquidity pinch (and possibly a bit of recessionary conditions, as evidenced by the big layoffs that have been announced). At the end of the day though they'll do what they always do -- run the money printer to fill in the holes. Enjoy the discounted buying opportunities when they come, because on the other side is likely going to be a dizzying ramp up if the impact of prior rounds of quantitative easing on asset prices is anything to go by.
It's a nice reminder though that going all in isn't necessarily all its cracked up to be, at least for most people yet. More important to maintain liquidity for your near term expenses to avoid selling more than you'd want to in these dips. Especially for those with a family and a home to consider.
Might be worth checking out the latest episode of nostr:npub1cj8znuztfqkvq89pl8hceph0svvvqk0qay6nydgk9uyq7fhpfsgsqwrz4u's podcast with Morgen Rochard, who's a financial planner with some very good perspective on weathering some volatility. We always get a bit on these runs up, and every run up is a little bit different. In some ways these shake outs are almost more disconcerting than the bear markets, which you learn to take in stride a little more, because when it comes in the middle of a run up, there's always the "what if the bull market is cancelled?" pit in your stomach.

Made me nervous for a moment. ๐
Itโs not about value in shrutebucks.
If you can just DCA and not sell for 5 yrs youโll accomplish what most first touch bitcoin buyers are unable to do.
Donโt get over your skis and learn about money along the way. I know that may sound condescending. Itโs not meant to be.
Youโll find plenty of CPAs, CFPs, and economists that will tell you they didnโt understand money until going down this educational journey.
None of us have lived with a money didnโt steal from us. Weโre now able to watch Greshamโs Law play out before our eyes. You can spend and replace, but just be sure to stay humble and stack sats.
Yeah it's normal. In November it went up from around 69k all the way to just over 100k. It's come back to mid 80s. If you zoom out and look further back, it always happens but each time it's higher. Time in the market is better than timing the market. You'll see why ๐๐พ
Here is the price of bitcoin if you look at it over the past 12 months. Looks like a big drop but still really good gains in just a year. You just happened to get on at the top of the coaster (like most people do).

But all along the way, most people thought they got on at the top too and panic sold as it was dropping. But you have to zoom out and see the long game. This is over bitcoins lifetime. See how tiny of a blip this "crash" really is. These huge peaks and valleys happen constantly, roughly every 4 years. But each mountain bitcoin summits is higher than the one before.

And there's real world economic and geopolitical reasons why all this is happening, it's not just charts and trading magic. Bitcoin was very intentionally created and crafted. But that's further down the rabbit hole and gets quite ๐ค
