Gossip requires manual user intervention to merge/overwrite from an event to the local database, and manual user intervention to then publish your local data back into another event. It also shows you clearly the count of people in the list, and the date on the latest event, and the date you made the latest local change. I made this all manual because when I coded that there were a lot of people complaining about their following list getting wiped out. And multiple people have thanked me and used the gossip client as a backup, even if they don't use it regularly, so they can recover from such a thing.

Of course you can just download and save the latest event in a .json file too.
