I know I am new at this whole thing, but something hit me the other night and this “what if” question came up…Bitcoin is a digital currency and relies on a power supply and the internet. What if, say in an apocalyptic scenario, there is no power and thus no access to internet? What happens to all this digital currency? Is it just 💣 at that point? What’s the backup?

Assuming we eventually get back online - weeks/months in doomsday event. Nodes can be offline for long time, then will reconnect and update each other on the last state of the ledger. Humans could keep IOU peer-to-peer ledgers waiting for the network to be restarted.

Thanks! I appreciate the response. True, it is an extreme “what if” but at the same time if all the eggs are in one basket and you can’t access said basket, what then?
