I think the concept of digital signatures for psychical objects accessible by NFC is cool but there's no need to jam up the Bitcoin mempool to do it. Why not just store the data on Arweave for basically nothing without adversely affecting anyone else?

Basically yes lol. The exact same end result could have more easily been achieved on a network that's actually designed for data storage.
Feels like he put it on the Bitcoin blockchain purely so he can say he did because he thinks it's cool.
