Don’t listen to this guy. He’s trying to blame the hodlers whenever content creators burn out and quit Nostr. He’s calling users who zap small amounts names.

We’re not here to make anyone rich or pay someone else’s bills. We’re here to have fun and zap whatever amount we want.

If a content creator quits because they think Nostr users are stingy or their zaps aren’t big enough, then let them quit.

Anyone who only cares about money doesn’t deserve even a single zap.

You’re the only one who truly knows your financial situation. Keep holding if that’s what you need to do to protect your future in this corrupt fiat system.

Pay yourself first. Zap whatever amount feels right to you — even if it’s just 1 zap. That 1 zap still has value to many of us who value even 1 zap.

You’ve missed the point entirely.

I’m not telling anyone what to zap. I’m pointing out the hypocrisy of consuming value while pretending it has none. If you get value and choose not to reciprocate at all, you’re extracting. That’s factual.

“We’re here to have fun and zap whatever we want” is fine until you realize Nostr only works if people participate in value-for-value. There’s no ad revenue. No algorithm. The model depends on people recognizing and rewarding value. If everyone takes your approach, the platform dies.

“Anyone who only cares about money doesn’t deserve a zap” is a strawman. Nobody said that. But if you think people should create valuable content indefinitely for free while you benefit, you’re not anti-money, you’re entitled.

You can zap 1 sat. You can zap nothing. That’s your choice. But don’t pretend you’re taking a principled stand when you’re just rationalizing consumption without reciprocation.

If you’re consuming value on a value-for-value network and contributing nothing back, you’re not here for the right reasons. You’re just here for free stuff with extra steps.

nostr is not going to die if everyone takes my approach, it will continue to grow organically,

people like you might leave because you might feel that Nostr is not growing enough or fast enough or you're not making enough zaps, but I and many will still be here because it's decentralized and we can't be banned. We don't care about getting rich from zaps and nostr doesn't need billions of users who care only about money,
