Have a look at the japan society. It’s polite to wear a mask when you’re sick. They are doing this since ages. And your comment about people wearing a mask denigrates an entire society. Like the whole country is stupid.
Maybe, just maybe people today wearing masks because they are kind and don’t want you to become sick as well.

If they were actually "kind and don't want you to become sick as well" they would STAY FUCKING HOME
(which is of course one of the many ways masks are actively harmful - they encourage people to go out shopping even if they are infectious, or if they need to avoid getting sick, because they believe masks will protect them but they really, really don't)

it's not for nothing that they tape giant X's on them when they stack them onto trucks to deliver them.
