Many guys say that. I think they don't understand what a psychopath is.
Because women are allowed/encouraged to express their emotions in less threatening ways.

That's a 100% true that's why the amount of men committing suicide is higher than women.
But I doubt it would explain being a Psychopath. Psychopaths kill ppl not themselves.

Maybe it’s the glass ceiling.
Psychopaths do very well climbing the corporate ladder. The higher you are, the more likely you are to be seen. Opportunities to climb for women are not equal. So we see more male psychopaths.

What if we dont actually know if there are more male psychopaths but only perceive it as such due to different manifestations?
Social reputation destruction vs violent physical destruction are perceived quite differently. One tends to get easily noticed while the other makes everyone else look psycho, defending itself from sight. Both of these can manifest in both sexes but, seemingly, each tends to favor one behaviour over another on average.
With this in mind I have doubts on any official number. A study on liars likely tells us the most honest group is the most likely to lie and that the liars lie the least. A study collectively gaslit and too many trust it.
And this doesnt even touch on the Machiavellians.
