it's now okay to self-claim as "autistic" and even woke, unlike how it was back then, so it's more popular, relevant and okay

plus, there are probably several welfare support systems in place, that might make the parents more open to get their kid diagnosed

Yep. The range of what’s considered autism expanded a lot

yeah, and thanks to the internet, autistic folk don't feel as alone, closeted and weird anymore

now they have others to hang around with

Also, when someone is diagnosed, they are said to be on the Autism Spectrum. It is not just ‘one’ Autism.

90% of self-proclaimed "autists" on the internet aren't. Even if they have been "diagnosed" by some agent of the system. Autism has become a sort of transsexualism.

Self-claiming autism has exactly nothing to do with medical rates of autism. It merely an indication of its normalization in culture and nothing else. You may be confusing it with ADHD?
