With barely functional "delete" buttons, I would say the opposite.

Nostr goal is absolutely censorship resistance, no trade offs

It's to prevent censorship that deletion is not mandatory. Otherwise a government could obly you to delete your content.

So if you want beint able of deleting things when governments tell you to, use twitter

Wow, Roger that. Thanks for letting me know that being able to delete your own content is CENSORSHIP.

And, the only conceivable reason that a person would delete some of their own content is because a government tells them to. Silly me, thinking that being able to restrict, revise, and/or destroy your own content is freedom.

I now know that only an immutable and publicly available record of everything a given individual has ever said is freedom and curating your own online content and representation is bad.

This sounds like a perfectly reasonable way for humans to live together and engage in everyday communications.
