Silicon valley is just an extension of the 1850 gold rush. An endless revolving door, of attracting new people with possibility of being rich, exploiting them, then they move away or become homeless. It's a culture of burnout and exploitation of young tech minds. Nobody is from there, and nobody can stay for long. In the past this all depended on offices and strict office policies and long working hours, that's why tech CEOs like Elon are freaking out because they don't know how to manage a remote work force and their exploits were largely dependent on trapping workers geographically and new people moving there to feed the fire.

The internet is fixing this.

as in, ending the bullshit?

i dunno, but it's enabling alternatives at least anyway.

the hard part is that engineers capable of building solutions are hard to find and shysters who pretend to be engineers are in great supply.
