Places you should never ever under any circumstances store your bitcoin.
Your phone.
The cloud.
An exchange.
Your house.

Arguably safer alternatives out there, yep!

Ultimately, I think this is true, but it's more helpful to associate risk with each of these places, and let people determine their own tolerance for risk, considering their skill level and amount held.
But 6.15 BTC justifies multi-jurisdictional multisig.
How about in that microchip they put in my dog? ;)
Amen if you ad cold/savings to that. Hot wallet in any of those is fine.
From worst to least bad
1-Exchange
2-Cloud
3-Phone
4-House
Your bank
I use Muun Wallet to keep my sats secured. Is that wrong?
Depends how much.
Def donβt store the majority of them there.
There are people far more qualified than I am to help with security but:
Look into the difference between hot wallets and cold storage.
Then look into how to secure your keys and hardware devices.
Then look into running your own node.
Ok thank you, I canβt afford a cold wallet. Iβll try to learn about nodes
Coldcard in your house is bad?
What's the list of places where you store your Bitcoin?
Me? Bottom of the ocean. Tragic boating accident and all that.
Typo.
What's the list of places where you *should store your Bitcoin? Not necessarily you personally
The list of potential hiding spots is as endless as your imagination. Ideally someplace with physical verification or security checkpoints. The reason not to store at your house is because as a general rule you will always be taken by surprise at your primary location.
Ah these exercises are too hypothetical and they just end in who can point out whose security deficiencies to flex on the other. I don't think there's many people that have a location out side of their home or bank they feel comfortable storing valuables. It's not a topic that gets discussed for obvious reasons, but I think it should.
Definitely not trying to βflexβ on anyone and happy to talk in private about your specific situation.
Sorry, not accusing you of flexing. Just how I've seen these discussions go. I think 90 % of users that self custody are securing seeds in their home, and that can vary from bad to good. Eg. writing your seeds on a post-it note to stamping your seeds in stainless and hiding them away.
Mainly I think it depends on the expected value of your coins
Everyoneβs situation is different. I hear what AH is saying, but personally I think for a bunch of people their house is the best place to stash their private keys (as long as they do it carefully/properly). π§‘

Well, you know what they say, "go big or go home!" π€ππ‘ππ π€ΏπΎ I figured if I'm going to go through all the effort of protecting my #Bitcoin, I might as well do it right. I mean, I don't want to take any chances, right?
I've got a team of experts helping me out with this, from scuba divers to submarine pilots to #mermaids. We're heading out to the middle of the #ocean to make sure my Bitcoin is safe and sound, nestled deep in the heart of a #fireproofsafe.
And hey, it's not just about the security of my Bitcoin, it's also about the #adventure! I'm looking forward to the thrill of the hunt, the excitement of being out on the open sea, and the bragging rights that come with having the most secure Bitcoin storage in the world.
So yeah, it might seem a bit extreme to some, but I know I'm doing what's best for my Bitcoin. And who knows, maybe I'll even discover some hidden #treasure along the way! π΄ββ οΈπ§π¦πππ€ΏπΎ
Store the access to your bitcoin buried on top of your favorite mountain. Donβt bring your phone with you. Donβt forget where you put it.
Technically You donβt store #bitcoin anywhere π
A wookie told me to put it on a CD
