Isn't better to use a mini pc to run a node ? Like thinkcenter or dell optiplex. The ssd fails after months, years ? There is a lot of writing/reading? There is websites comparing the disks longevity, some disk made for servers and security cam could be better than regular ones for a node.

I've run mine for a bit over 2 years and have had to replace the ssd once. Which means I've had to purchase a total of 2 ssds. the SD cards I've had to change every 4-6 months.

I thought of a laptop because of the built in battery since I live in an area with frequent power outages. Third world rules.

I made the post mainly wanting to see what other people have done.

Maybe in the future I will think about upgrading to a more industrial and more expensive kind of hardware. Or who knows maybe I will got for a prebuild like a start9. But not looking for an upgrade right now

Maybe you can upgrade for a refurbish desktop hardware + UPS power for the power outage, so you can have internet, your node and other stuffs running 24/7
