Writing in the morning is my winning strategy, but I keep letting myself get distracted and only have waves of doing it.

Yeah sure. Do better. Turn off my phone. Don't get on Twitter. It's that easy.

But I keep fkning up.

Do y'all have any advice? What do you do in the morning to get your flow going WITH CONSISTENCY?

Just don’t be gay, bro.

All the other comments are telling me that helps tho

Misery loves company.

DON’T FALL FOR IT!!!

Joking aside, try checking off on a calendar or flash card every time you get up and write. When you miss a day, mark it as a miss and try again tomorrow. Seeing how often you succeed will help drive motivation. Setting a low bar helps too. 5min a day is so easy you’ll likely end up doing more but won’t be riddled with guilt on days when you can’t.

I like that

The emotional component would be to look inward at why you feel compelled toward distraction when sitting down to write. Are you working on a project that challenges you on a deeper level? We tend to face a lot of inner resistance when challenged in ways we don’t feel capable of handling. I tend to “get distracted” when I need to narrate a particularly challenging character or story. This never really goes away but I think it gets easier the more we acknowledge it.

Anywho. Stop being gay and get writing!

Same. Here for the advice.

Best thing I can think of is don’t even pick up your phone in the morning. Get an alarm clock so it’s nowhere near you in the morning. Wake up, morning routine, straight into writing. Maybe a little reading first as a warm up.

Easier said than done innit.

I need a fkn alarm clock. Been thinking about doing that for a while

Me too. Okay, weekend priority, get a fuckin alarm clock.

Think about the type of people you hate/dislike. And then imagine your behavior is also what they’re doing at that time.

You gonna do what them pussies are doing?

LOVE IT 🤝

Great question... Do you have kids? I've found, that even with the best will in the world, my time is simply second best first thing in the morning. There always a mouth to feed, a bum to wipe, a early wake up to soothe back to sleep, that I don't even bother trying to get a morning routine in.

I used to find it the best time to write though, that I totally agree. Crystal clear when you first wake up

As they get older I will aim to get something like a morning writing ritual going, but right now I am just not stressing myself out about it

Ps - I read a great book "create first, consume second" which was nice for just this problem

Morning meditation can help you

I need to slow down eh

Set the alarm clock really early. Don’t worry your body will wake you up before it goes off, most of the time.

Start your day and if you feel groggy transcendental meditation (a fancy way of saying repeat a mantra word until you drift off) will refresh you.

I think you’re doing great buddy. Just keep looking beautiful

Nothing has worked. But delete twitter.

That's my income

Have you tried the "morning pages" method?

Saved my brain.

Have a morning ritual. Brew a coffee. Sit and write—stream of consciousness style—first thing in the morning. You can write with whatever feels best. I use a notebook to eliminate ALL distractions.

Has helped with mental clarity, problem solving, idea generating and focus.

Doing it for years.

Game changer.

I follow my ideas and my thoughts. In the morning they are clearly superior. In the afternoon they get considerably worse. I follow the flow of coffee energy 😉🫵💪

I get the feeling you are pretty productive . My tip is a bit of gentle exercise to warm up your mind and body and get things flowing
