Yeah, even in the video the link he uses starts with http:// ๐Ÿ˜…

Http and DNS are different things. I said DNS, not HTTP.

โ€œPaying lightning invoices through Nostr instead of *http*. ๐Ÿคฏโ€ - ๐Ÿถ๐Ÿพ๐Ÿซก

Yep. And good bye DNS, not http. The invoice payment goes through websockets, not through http. Http is not used if you are already connected with wss.

Although if you read the WebSocket RFC 6455.. โ€œThe WebSocket Protocol is an independent TCP-based protocol. Its only relationship to HTTP is that its handshake is interpreted by HTTP servers as an Upgrade request.โ€

The video is still problematic though as they start by adding relays by DNS so it is in no way independent of DNS..

True, yet we all use web servers to do our WS and handshake with HTTP ๐Ÿถ๐Ÿพ๐Ÿ˜‚

I wasnโ€™t trying to reinvent TOR. I was only trying to allow plebs who run their own home nodes to create static lnurls and share them, without the friction of buying a domain, a static ip address, bypassing the home NAT, or depending on a single provider with a single domain.

Donโ€™t we have cashu nuts for that, I am not sure if that works in this case, but would be interesting to know ๐Ÿถ๐Ÿพ๐Ÿซก

I must admit that I havenโ€™t fell through the cashu rabbit hole yet. ๐Ÿ˜…

Can you make on your home node the cashu equivalent for a static lnurl-pay? Without buying a domain and without TOR? How does the initial communication happen?

I have no idea TBH, in the same boat as you ๐Ÿถ๐Ÿพ๐Ÿคฃ

when i discovered relays are websockets my mind was blew

*blown ๐Ÿถ๐Ÿพ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿซ‚

blew sounds better.

Then remove โ€œwasโ€ and you are set! ๐Ÿถ๐Ÿพ๐Ÿซก๐Ÿ˜‚
