Hola!

Was chatting with a normie over the weekend. And his brother is a max kieser evangelist so he's been bombarded with " Bitcoin good everything else bad" sounbites from his brother. He thinks maxis are being closed minded. πŸ™„

Can you point me to specific videos/podcasts that can enlighten him about the following

1. He thinks ETH is deflationary bc they are burning it. (Someone at Swan did a 2part eth for idiots video a while back on twatter... I can't find it tho)

2. He thinks Solana is going to change the world. nostr:npub1qny3tkh0acurzla8x3zy4nhrjz5zd8l9sy9jys09umwng00manysew95gx

3. He thinks nothing is going on in BTC and doesn't think it will scale. Would be helpful to learn about layer 2! solutions... not sure if he's ready for nostr:npub1az9xj85cmxv8e9j9y80lvqp97crsqdu2fpu3srwthd99qfu9qsgstam8y8

It was exhausting speaking with him. I wanted to just say hfsp,

It might be helpful to have him watch something in a coherent train of thought

Appreciate any assistance. πŸ™

Yikes man. Rekt beyond comprehension

HFSP

This is the best advice ever

I was trying not to go there.....

Better not to disrupt natural selection. Make peace with the fact that some ppl are NGMI

If it's your life's purpose to convert non-bitcoiners into legit bitcoiners, go ahead but ask yourself first, is it worth your time? There's a brilliant saying that goes, "teach not those who are not ready to learn"

While it's true that btc is not a sure way to a delightful future, it's also true that when the person is ready, everything will fall into place

Nothing to recommend though, as it's not our place to judge anyone if we're not walking in their shoes. Live a happy life, as every second counts. Help if you can, move away if you cannot, and trust only the goodness of your heart, as life is meant to be lived wisely, each and every second of it, and worrying about others' predicament may not be helpful to your own pursuit of happiness. You have a limited time to live, it's not forever, so choose who and what you invest your precious limited time in

Live a happy life!

It's not my life purpose to orange pill people.

He kept bringing up the topic and I didn't feel like educating him as it seemed like he wanted to debate for the purpose of showing me how smart he is.

So I was going to share a few podcasts to lead him to clean drinking water. Then let him decide.

If you don't get it I don't have time to explain it to you sorry πŸ˜›

In all seriousness, perhaps this piece we did a while back on ETH might help? Hopefully it's coherent lol

Another thing to note is that most people only ever properly learn about something (and this applies to anything not just Bitcoin) when it's needed. For example, the horse won't drink even if you lead it to the water unless it's thirsty.

Whether you can generate that "need" in this individual is the real issue. It's hard to do, and you likely won't succeed. They will only truly desire to learn about Bitcoin when they truly need it, such as if they get debanked or start getting charged 20% fees for remittance etc.

Be patient. Be supportive. Be consistent and provide simple answers. It takes time, but eventually they will be burnt and / or realize that you're only speaking the truth πŸ™‚

Thanks.

I would not recommend this article to him.

It doesn't explain that eth is a ponzi and washes over key differences with fluff phrases, like saying that neither is issued by a central authority πŸ˜‚

I feel for the guy. I can't remember when I outgrew evangelists like Max, but that's when I really started learning. That kind of "rah rah rah" cheerleading feels scammy to outsiders. I don't much like it as an "insider." Sounds like the guy should be building off of more balanced people ... like maybe people who don't breath Bitcoin and libertarian talking points 24/7. I will say, I still appreciate Andreas Antonopolous.

....After additional conversations, I don't feel he can open his mind ....and yet , he accused me of not being open minded. πŸ˜‚

I could tell I was dropping information he had not heard before... but he was not interested in questioning if his position was not full informed.

It's a significant time investment I usually only make for people I see regularly. I've had to start from square one, building up understandings gradually. If someone believes Twinkies are health food, they may be miles from even getting to the starting line. Plus everyone's entry point is different - for me it was human rights, sparked by an Andreas Antonopoulos interview in 2016. For one person, it could be finally grasping inflation. For another person, it's freedom.

I ran a Bitcoin meetup for about 5 years. Every now and then a guy would show up just wanting to debate. I learned not to bother.

For BTC scaling and Layer 2, 'What Bitcoin Did' podcast has episodes diving deep into Lightning Network.

I don't feel comfortable sending him to Peter McCormack...
