If I recall, ecash has to do with cashu mints and is built on the Bitcoin protocol

I think ecash was also one of the original internet money protocols proposed by Adam Back (I think).

It essentially stores the “tokens” on one’s local device as if one had physical cash in one’s leather wallet.
