with such a low bar of entry, no central command to suspend accounts, and total anonymity, how does nostr keep the place so nice? Why are trolls not coming in to ruin this if nobody can stop them? I’m thrilled about the community I’ve found here, but wonder how we keep it from being vandalized? #asknostr

You pick your algorithm. I think it's a reflection of you. Those people exist and they are hear but we have the option to repel them and to curate what feeds we see. We are in control of the stream of water that comes to us ❤️⚡

They don't it all depends on the relays you are connected to. Relays are like websites with their own tos & pp. A relay owner will censor & filter out anything they don't like. There are relays full of spambots & trolls but you may not see them because the relay you are using is censoring them. Add more relays to your profile & you will see more things.

so I searched and found an overwhelming number of relays https://legacy.nostr.watch/relays/find so I’m wondering if some brilliant soul has compiled a list which describes each relay or gives some clue to its content or rules, a ranking or categorization of relays I guess is what I’m looking for
I use to use this website before the owners stopped keeping it up to date. So I haven't found another site yet that does. I would be interested because a few relays I added from there are just copying posts from other relays I had some peoples post showing up 3 times from 3 different relays. So i had to shut those off.

The trolls can't come without bringing legitimate users, and they lose power when legitimate users move here.
I wouldn't say "they won't touch nostr with a 10 foot pole" but maybe a 10 foot pole is the only way they will touch nostr while it's this small.
They will coordinate a massive attack when it has the right timing to put a setback on a critical mass snowball of growth. They do not want to accidentally trigger that snowball themselves.
hmm i literally just joined/opened the app to the #asknostr hashtag and the first few posts were someone @ ing someone and using slurs. not a great first impression, but the rest of the feed seems ok :)
Over time you can use filters and mute/block to help filter and curate your feed. ✌
