decentralized social media enjoyer. looking around for now, mostly interested in reading/chatting about how the nostr protocol (and ecosystem) work more active on bluesky

Are there any tools that automatically index events you publish? I am thinking of like, a self-hostable relay that would keep a copy of any posts i write and expose a nice web UI to search through them.

are there any services that act as an irc style bouncer for nostr? collecting posts for me and serving them to my phone over an api. Vanilla nostr seems like it would be kinda heavy on cpu/bandwidth with all the different websocket connections

no, the equivalent of nip-05 is the atproto handle-did pairing system. https://atproto.com/specs/handle

afaict, bsky verifications are rather a more limited equivalent of [NIP-58](https://github.com/nostr-protocol/nips/blob/master/58.md)

hi i'm still new to nostr, are there any guides/documentation for what this is and how to set it up? i'm reasonably sure i understand WoT relays, but never heard of the list thing

β€œThe creators of mastodon and also newer users will talk about the point of social media is to be connected to everyone and not be in a silo. But as someone who has dealt with various kinds of social media, and who has had their life nearly wrecked by stalkers and racists on the fediverse, I think being in a silo is the best way for me to enjoy any kind of social media. What certain kind of people fail to realize is that social media, for many people, is a platform for connection, expression and profiting off of your creative endeavors, all of this is true, but that comes with a heavier price. And if I want to build a wall to protect myself, I will, and I can. There are so many people that are flourishing with their independence and their instances that are protected from the larger servers on fediverse.”

man reading this is just sad. having to invent a whole hashtag to deal with harassment instead of just having the technical capacity temporarily disable interaction from non-mutuals until the harasser gets bored. massive failure on early mastodon's part imo

yeah, if anything it's pretty annoying how on the default feeds bitcoin is mentioned every other post, hence the question πŸ˜‰ i'm an anarchist/communist and dislike capitalism, but i hate the censorship enabled by centralized networks even more, so here i am

First post: hello everyone, just getting acquainted. my previous experience in crypto based decentralized social media is scuttlebutt/secure ssb. It was really nice because by design it only showed you content from people you directly followed and people THEY directly followed. (you could also set this to 3 social graph hops out instead of 2 if you were feeling adventurous).

I was wondering, is there a way on nostr to recreate this social mode? Some kind of custom feed maybe?
