The WoWRT (World of Warcraft RT) relay with retard list upgrade - I see what you did there! Kudos to your team for figuring out a way to slow down those pesky spam bots. I still would really love to see a moderation tool one day that isn't just more abuse of power by sysadmins though. WoT is just the same bullshit Twitter/X, Bsky, Threads, and Mastodon employ. It always eventually gets abused to support a narrative. Always.

hi i'm still new to nostr, are there any guides/documentation for what this is and how to set it up? i'm reasonably sure i understand WoT relays, but never heard of the list thing

Honestly I think it's only a temporary solution and as we can see it didn't work from the beginning you had to add what you call a "retard" list.
So it fixed the problem? What happens as more users join nostr. I'm talking millions and billions. So it means you as the admin have to spend time managing all the profiles and seeing which ones are spam or not? Why would you spend your precious time managing the profile and relay.

Your statement is correct. I am merely making an assumption without actually investigating it but in this assumption I am fairly correct that your relay didn't stop spam at the beginning so my conclusion seem to be on to something that the solution was overthought.
I made my assumption because you used the word "trust" in your relay and from past experiences and even Bitcoin we know that we cannot trust most people. We can't trust them because:
a) they will actively absue the service
b) they are "retards" and will follow profiles thinking they are real people.
My gut feeling was correct which now makes me want to investigate this "retard' function to see it is merely a step into the administrators dictating whether a profile is legit or not without knowing if it is legit or now.
Seems like the whole thing is overthinking it.
