It needs anonymous option, definitely. Kind of ironic that one of the major advantages of LN is better-than-mainchain privacy, but now zaps just allow directly connecting payments to identities.

The point of a zap is to tie the payment to nostr to say I sent so and so this. Its not meant to be private.
Not necessarily. Sure you are zapping a user’s specific note but an option for not publicizing who you are as the zapper seems entirely reasonable
Yeah that's without nip57. Or just easily have your nostr account anon which is what nostr is so great for.
The point of a zap is to show someone you valued their content. Do they need to know who you are? Only if you are expecting something in return like a follow or a zap in the future.
We literally added nip57 so we could show who we are.
