Nearly two decades of using cellular data, one consistency I've noticed regardless of OS, device brand or service provider is that they are all horrible at automatically switching back to the 'slower' but more reliable 3G/4G band during times when their latest and greatest band is experiencing problems.

If all of the hardline ISPs in your area suck and you're considering one of these 5G wireless residential modems, make sure it offers the option to manually force it to use the slower band.

When I first got this T-maybe Gateway thing, the speeds were at least 5X faster than Comcast in my area, but the last few days have been like a return to using dial-up, and there's no option in the thing's settings to force it to use 4G instead.

Where are you located? I am in WV and was considering the T for internet and phone service for business.

Near Harrisonburg/JMU. Coverage is okay for the most part since they merged with Sprint/Ntelos but I wouldn't want to rely on their residential gateway for any kind of home office stuff. Even on its best day, two iPads streaming video pushes it to the limit.

I will keep that in mind. Thanks!
