Hey nostr, its been a beautiful day here on the homestead. We got more of the vinyl coated chicken wire delivered, so we were able to finish installing it in the chicken run. That project is done. We've had light showers off and on all day, with some clouds and some sun, so just an overall perfect day.

The last couple days i've been fiddling with different wallets to connect on my amethyst app. Ever since i started using nostr i've used alby, and when i started experimenting with other wallets i felt like a new user again because some of the little things are kinda tricky to figure out for a non techy person. Right now i have alby set up to pay zaps, and coinos to receive. I actually like coinos alot, for the simplicity and ease of use. I tried the alby hub thing, but its a bit complicated for me and i couldnt get it to work right. Anyway, thats what i've been up to. Now its time to sit on the patio and enjoy the sounds of nature. Yall have a good evening nostr friends. Stay happy, healthy, and free. #grownostr #homesteading #countrylife https://nostrcheck.me/media/8d9d2b77930ee54ec3e46faf774ddd041dbb4e4aa35ad47c025884a286dd65fa/fc80190b68ad0ee7618b076fe2140262cabd65ac9830b7c780fee3ad722859df.webp

I want to try Alby Hub but I'm afraid I'll have the same problem setting it up. We're you able to get it to work?

No i gave up on it for now. I had tried to sign up for the self hosted version, got a channel open, but couldnt get zaps to work. Another user said that self hosting on a laptop is not a good idea because you need to have the laptop on all the time, to keep the channel open. I might revisit it later

Can I help you?

If you run it on your Desktop then you have to make sure to keep the app open when you want to receive and send.

If you have a channel open, did you also send sats in?

Yes i opened a channel on desktop and funded it. But the zapping wouldnt work right, i couldnt receive. Also, installing on my laptop turned out to be impractical because its has to stay on. I'll revisit the Hub later.

I see. so I assume receiving had issues because of the node not being online on the Desktop.

Alby Hub works best as an always online node on a server. which is why we also offer the Alby Cloud hosting.

i reccommend using their cloud hosting, and also, you need two channels, usually, an outbound one you fund 100% and an inbound one that you rent from a provider, at a fee usually like 10-20ksat

the fee for starting up an alby cloud hosted hub is about 21k
